Embarrassing Laser Hair Removal | How To Survive The Brazilian!

Getting embarrassed about having laser hair removal on your Brazilian area is perfectly normal. It can be a bit intimidating visiting a clinic, undressing and letting a complete stranger get up close and personal with you. It is a bit like going to the doctor or your gynaecologist knowing that you will have to take your clothes off at some point and dreading it.

The good news is you will not be the first person your laser hair removal practitioner will have performed laser hair removal in intimate areas on. Whether it’s a Brazilian, bikini, full Hollywood or perianal (the bit between you bum) it’s just another day at the office for an experienced laser practitioner.

They have seen everything, done everything, answered the strangest questions and heard bizarre requests from their clients and handled it all with the utmost professionalism and usually with a smile on their face. But knowing this still doesn’t make it any easier for you.

If you are a little bit self conscious about your body, and let’s face it, who isn’t, we will go over some tips to help you if you are thinking about getting laser hair removal in embarrassing areas.

If you are self conscious over your hair or the shape of your body, your laser hair practitioner would have seen it all before. If you think you are quite hairy they would always have treated someone a lot hairier then you! Plus after your first session when you return 6-8 weeks later there will be less hair because of the hair removed from your first session.

Also don’t forget that for each laser hair session, you have to prepare by shaving the area the night before, so you don’t have to worry about the practitioner seeing you at your hairiest.

Where to start…

Firstly, start with a reputable clinic (yes, like ours). At Premier Laser, we have 8 locations across London. We treat hundreds of people a week and have been doing so for over 12 weeks. So that’s a lot of laser, so without sounding too big headed, we’re quite good at it.

Our most popular package is they full body, which means FULL body, so you practitioner will be greatly experienced.

Women can choose a number of styles down below and the three to choose from which often get mixed up are:

• Brazilian – Landing strip styled – no hair on either side
• Bikini – Around the bikini area so upper thighs and side of bikini
• Hollywood – Everything, everywhere off!

With the bikini and Brazilian you don’t have to remove your underwear completely. With the Hollywood you do. A towel is provided so you are never full exposed. Only the areas being lasered are briefly revealed for lasering.

Hopefully that should come as a relief if you were thinking you turn up at the clinic and immediately have to undress. You don’t.

Tips for making you Brazilian laser treatment less embarrassing

If you have purchased a package of 6-8 treatments, clinics usually try and keep the same practitioner for your treatment. Make sure you ask for this and they are aware of your preference. You are the customer and whatever you want should be granted.

Having 8 sessions with 8 different practitioners would not be good for the clinic or you. It will just  add to your stress levels which you want to avoid.

Some of our clients request an older practitioner as they feel more comfortable with someone older and experienced. If you are in your twenties and are not comfortable having someone in their twenties or younger performing your laser hair removal, ask your clinic who is available and request the most experienced or senior technician.

At Premier Laser we don’t employ technicians straight from beauty school. They must have at least three years experience. So you won’t have a technician who is still learning, is more likely to make mistakes and will take longer then an experienced technician.

As mentioned for Brazilian or Bikini your laser technician will provide you with a towel in order to cover areas that aren’t being treated. The whole process only takes a few minutes, so you won’t feel too exposed.

You can always strike up a conversation with your practitioner or listen to music on your phone. Because practitioners work with clients everyday most enjoy nothing more then talking to their clients and catching up on their lives and a juicy bit of gossip between treatments.
